2003 Missouri Quarter P Mint

“Corps of Discovery” is the theme of the Missouri State Quarter. The coin design features three men paddling a canoe on a river as the Gateway Arch rises behind them from the tree-lined banks. The scene is reminiscent of the Lewis and Clark expedition, which was properly known as the Corps of Discovery. The expedition explored the American West from May 1804 to September 1806.
