Louisiana Quarter

Louisiana became the 18th state to enter the union on April 30, 1812. In 1803, Napoleon offered the entire Louisiana Territory for sale to America. The United States accepted the offer, which came to be known as the Louisiana Purchase. The Louisiana quarter design celebrates the Louisiana Purchase, as well as honoring the Brown Pelican and Louisiana’s musical heritage.
